Step-In Program
Step-In is our small-group social and emotional learning program designed to support students in building the skills they need to thrive at school, at home, and in the wider community. Through engaging activities, discussions, and hands-on learning, students are supported to understand, recognise, and name their emotions, while learning positive ways to manage their feelings and responses.
The program helps students develop self-awareness, resilience, and confidence by teaching practical regulation strategies, including our school-wide TIMB strategies. Students learn how to calm their bodies, solve problems, make positive choices, and build healthy relationships with others.
Step-In is guided by evidence-based approaches including Berry Street Education Model, MindUp, and Respectful Relationships. These frameworks support students to strengthen emotional wellbeing, empathy, and social connection.
Our goal in Step-In is to empower students with lifelong skills that help them feel safe, successful, and ready to learn in every environment.
